Iraqis have special role in this rituals,as they are host to about 20-40 million pilgrims.
Almost entire road from Kufa to Karbala is filled with camps and houses, which serves as sleeping, showering and even feeding place to pilgrims. As you walk in the route, they hail you,and want to give you food, water, tea, coffee or fruits(sometimes they beg you to take one of those).
All of these happen completely free.
Despite the huge numbers of pilgrims, you won't be thirsty or hungry.there is always food, water, sleeping place and shower available for everyone.
This 80km walking -despite hot weather of Iraq at that time - is among one of coolest travel I've ever had.
One can end the walking in 2 days, but most of people prefer to do it in 3-4 days.
As I said before,Islamic year is not fixed on solar year, and it rotates year by year.So next arbaeen will be 11 days prior to this one, which become close to hot weather of summer.
