Local Plants in the UAE: From the Roots of the Past to the Shades of the Present
This exhibition, on view at the Sharjah Heritage Museum until 29 April 2027, offers an immersive exploration of the country’s native flora as living carriers of memory, identity, and knowledge.
The show focuses on 46 species of native plants, which include emblematic varieties such as the ghaf, sidr, arta, and moringa. They are presented through a combination of living displays and carefully preserved samples, so visitors can encounter them both as scientific subjects and as sensorial experiences. Each plant is situated within the specific ecosystems of the UAE: desert, mountain, and coastal, highlighting the adaptability and resilience that define the region’s natural landscape.
