🇭🇰🇨🇳 Hong Kong Pushes IPO Connect
Hong Kong should move ahead with an IPO connect scheme that would give mainland Chinese investors access to the city’s new listings, according to Vistra managing director Pamela Chung. In comments calling for the mechanism, Chung said the timing is opportune for Hong Kong to expand its capital-market links with the mainland and broaden the investor base for local IPOs.
The proposal would extend the logic of existing stock-connect programmes by opening primary-market access, rather than limiting cross-border participation to secondary trading. For Hong Kong, the scheme would add mainland liquidity to IPO fundraising and reinforce its role as the main offshore listing venue for Chinese companies.
If advanced, the mechanism would deepen financial integration between Hong Kong and mainland China while potentially improving deal demand for upcoming listings.
