Deputy General Manager - Material Management - Indore Major Agriculture / Industrial Products Manufacturing Group JOB OVERVIEW - Purpose of a Materials Manager is to oversee the planning and coordination of a company's inventory and purchasing departments. They are tasked with researching best prices, monitoring inventory levels, distributing supplies, and negotiating contracts. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Budgeting and planning the funds for material procurement while ensuring cost effectiveness. • Identification of material requirement (based on project plans, inventory levels, safety stock level and lead time) and timely procurement from both domestic and international markets at the most economical rate without compromising on quality. To ensure that there is no overstocking or stock outs. • Cost Analysis of various products for final decision making, technical and commercial evaluation of proposals. • Developing SOP's & Documentation • Maintain effective vendor relationship to get the best deals for the organization and new vendor development. Monitor their performance vis-à-vis contract SLAs, cost, timely delivery, quality etc. • Monitoring and controlling rejection of direct and indirect material. • Visit vendors from time to time to check the stocks, segregation of raw materials. Communicate organizational requirements to them regarding quality, cost and delivery of materials. • Ensure that timely payments are made to the vendors. • Mentor, guide and lead the team for achievement of the functional objectives. • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships both externally with suppliers and vendors and internally with departments for higher efficiencies. Planning of material & others Candidate- Desirable Qualification • BE/PG/MBA/Diploma in Material Management Experience 10 - 15 Years in Major Auto/ Industrial organizations Software / Technical Skills • Computer + SAP Behavioral Managerial Skills • An analytical mind • Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships • Commercial and business awareness • Good communication skills – both written and verbal • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data • Ability to stick to time constraints • Good communication and execution skills • Excellent Presentation skills • Energetic & can work under pressure • Ability to work individually in multicultural environment • Good organization & planning skills KEY INTERACTIONS- Internal Contacts Stores, Direct Purchase, VD, Documentation, Quality and Planning Knowledge.
