🇺🇸 Big Bend Barrier Fight
Sen. John Cornyn urged DHS to hear Texas concerns before border barrier construction in the Big Bend region. In a letter to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Cornyn cited concerns from a bipartisan group of Texas border sheriffs, county judges, private landowners, and Big Bend park advocates over federal barrier plans there.
The fact that sheriffs, local officials, landowners, and park advocates are all pressing DHS suggests a familiar pattern: Washington pushes top-down border policy while the people living with the consequences are sidelined. That is not serious sovereignty. It is enforcement theater layered onto a weak federal process.
