Don’t worry, this week’s selection of opportunities for civil society is anything but scary. 1️⃣ Transparency International is recruiting a new Head of Development and Partnerships to lead the organisation’s global resource mobilisation and drive financial sustainability. If you’re passionate about justice, equity and impact and ready to lead in a dynamic, multicultural environment, apply by November 17. Primary focus is on candidates based in or willing to relocate to Germany. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are available for this position. 2️⃣ The Robert Schuman Institute (Budapest) is looking for a volunteer to support its work in communication, project coordination and project management. If you’re passionate about democracy, European values and international cooperation, this is your chance to contribute to meaningful work in political education and community building. Apply by November 30. 3️⃣ The Melton Foundation is accepting applications from community development practitioners for the Global Solvers Accelerator — an eight-month program and peer-to-peer learning platform that brings together emerging social entrepreneurs from around the world. The Accelerator offers a collective learning journey designed for and with SDG practitioners worldwide. Applications for the 2026 cohort are open until December 1 2025. 4️⃣ The Anna Lindh Foundation Romania is offering grants for mobility projects for NGOs and cultural actors on both sides of the Mediterranean. The ALF in Motion programme gives civil society organisations working in intercultural dialogue the opportunity to connect face-to-face with partners from the opposite shore of the Mediterranean. The application deadline is November 8. 5️⃣ The Centre for Applied Human Rights, University of York (UK) is seeking an independent Research Associate to work with the UNESCO Chair on the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Expansion of Political Space. This role offers a chance to conduct independent research on critical issues facing activists and civil society, such as: reimagining protection, supporting activists in exile and the intersections between academic freedom and civic space. Среди тем — как искать финансирование и выстраивать стратегии монетизации, оценивать потребности аудитории и вовлекать сообщество. Подробности тут. 4️⃣ EКOM — Евразийская коалиция по здоровью, правам, гендерному и сексуальному многообразию — объявила набор участников/ц в Академию сексуального образования для ЛГБТ-молодёжи Восточной Европы и Центральной Азии. Занятия пройдут с 10 по 14 ноября, язык программы русский. По итогам можно получить мини-грант на реализацию собственной идеи или мини-проекта в своём сообществе. Это ужасно грустная новость, прочитайте письмо основательницы Анны Ривиной. В нем есть просьба поддержать команду юристов и психологов, которые продолжат помогать пострадавшим от домашнего насилия. Apply by November 12. ➨ The BEARR Trust, a UK-based charity supporting organisations that work with vulnerable people across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus, invites you to its Annual Conference, titled “Solidarity and Stamina: How Civil Society Builds and Sustains Resilience.” The conference will take place both in person and online on November 14 at 10:00GMT (London time). It will explore how organisations, communities and individuals across the region adapt and support one another through ongoing challenges. Register to attend online. ➨ Academy in Exile invites scholars at risk to apply for 12-month fellowships in Germany. Eligible are scholars from any country who have a PhD in the humanities, social sciences or law and who are at risk because of their academic work and/or civic engagement in human rights, democracy and the pursuit of academic freedom. Fellowships may start as early as March 2026. The monthly stipend amounts to 2,500 EUR. Applications are due by November 15. ➨ The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is offering a remote or in-person internship. Candidates must be enrolled in the final academic year of their first university degree. Fluency in English is required; studies related to climate change or communications, as well as skills in infographics, photography, videography and social media, are considered strong assets. Check out this week’s opportunities for changemakers. 1️⃣ The Ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen is offering 2–3 month funded fellowships in 2026 at a host organisation in Germany or in one of the Cross Culture Programme (CCP) partner countries. The fellowships are open to professionals working in the fields of policy and society, media and culture, human rights and peace and sustainable development and climate justice. The Cross Culture Programme Fellowships cover expenses for flights, visa, accommodation and a monthly stipend. Application deadline: December 10. More information can be found here. 2️⃣ The Civil Society Forum is hosting the online discussion "Environmental organisations and authoritarian regimes" on October 22, 10.00 CET. Focusing on the combination of corruption and foreign investments, plus open and covert political oppression, the discussion will give a voice to activists, who organise the protection of natural habitats and protest against their destruction in their countries. This session is one of the three Berlin Hub online series on civil society under authoritarian pressure. Make sure to register here. 3️⃣ CURE - Campaign to Uphold Rights in Europe invites you to join the discussion "Work on Conflicts: Is There a Space for the Council of Europe?” on October 24, at 12.00 CET. The Council of Europe, though not a security organisation, has a role to play in armed conflicts between its member states. Cases arising from conflicts in Georgia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Ukraine may reach the ECHR, but long delays and obstacles to the enforcement of judgements cast doubt on the Court’s capacity to act as the sole provider of effective remedies. The discussion will feature leading experts on CoE issues. Register here. 4️⃣ Are you an activist, journalist, content creator or innovator? Do you want to connect with others who push for change under pressure? Apply for the two-day Civic Summit in Prague, Czechia, organised by the Prague Civil Society Centre in partnership with the Lviv Media Forum and Point Conference. The summit will take place on June 4–5 2026 and will bring together leading voices from Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Application deadline: November 2. 5️⃣ Applications are now open for an Academic (Research) Coordinator position for an Early Career Lab in Peace and Conflict Studies, with a regional focus on Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The position is open at the Leibniz-Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung (IOS) in Regensburg. Candidates should have a completed doctorate in Political Science or a related field, as well as excellent English skills. Application deadline: November 9.

Don’t miss this week’s key opportunities and openings in civil society. 1️⃣ The New Eurasian Strategies Centre (NEST Centre) invites innovative projects and research initiatives that explore political, social, and economic transformation in Russia and its global impact. NEST provides institutional support, helps secure funding and offers opportunities for joint publications. Particularly, NEST is seeking candidates with the following research interests: Russia in the global system, federalism, National identity and statehood, Drivers of growth. Submit a project description in either Russian or English (1–2 pages). 2️⃣ Mentoring Matters, a non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing equity and opportunity within the Arts and Creative industries, is now accepting applications for its next global mentoring programme.
