100 years ago on 12 of November 1923 the world famous guitarist Alirio Diaz was born.
He was one of the most prominent guitarists in Venezuela. He was studied with Regino Sainz de la Maza and Andres Segovia, and gave concerts all over the world. He is also famous for his arrangements of Venezuelan folk music for guitar. Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo dedicated to Alirio Díaz piece Invocación y Danza.
Greatest maestro passed away on 5 of July 2016 at the age of 92.
