The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised airlines operating flights to and from EU countries to temporarily avoid flying over the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and part of the Gulf of Oman. The recommendation is in effect until 29 July, but may be reviewed.
The reason is military action in the region. According to EASA’s assessment, missile and drone attacks, air defence activity and the risk of aircraft being misidentified pose an increased threat to civil aviation.
This is not a flight ban, but a recommendation from the regulator. Before departure, it is worth checking your flight status with the airline.
