Первая часть — «бес» (или «без» в древнерусском языке) означала «снаружи». Вторая часть — «седа» — это «сидение». Поэтому изначально под словом «беседа» подразумевали «сидение перед домом». Вероятно, нашим предкам быстро надоедало такое пустое времяпрепровождение, и они переходили к разговору. На фоне этого как раз постепенно менялось значение слова «беседа».
