Europe's fishing industry is looking to chart its future from the coast of Ireland. EU fisheries ministers have gathered in Cork for a two-day meeting to discuss how fishing and aquaculture can become more sustainable while ensuring both sectors remain competitive for future generations. The talks, hosted under Ireland's EU Council presidency, also bring together senior EU officials and representatives from every member state to help shape the bloc's long-term maritime strategy. For Ireland, welcoming Europe's fisheries leaders is a reminder of how closely its coastal communities are tied to the future of the sea.
