The debate over electric scooters is picking up speed, but many in Ireland say hitting the brakes completely isn't the answer. After the prime minister signaled support for a possible nationwide ban, transport advocates and politicians argued that stricter enforcement of existing rules would be far more effective than outlawing the vehicles altogether. They are instead calling for measures such as registration, licensing, insurance and tougher policing to target dangerous riders without penalizing responsible commuters. Sometimes the real problem isn’t the scooter-it’s how people choose to use it.
