Intelligence that can now be revealed shows that the Hamas terrorist organization is exploiting the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis and conducting torture and interrogations inside the hospital. According to the information, interrogations by Hamas’ Internal Security Forces and military intelligence are taking place in the Yassin building, on the second floor of the hospital’s outpatient clinics. In addition, Hamas is exploiting the hospital as a governing center unrelated to its medical function, for the purposes of interrogations, torture, and extortion. The Nasser Hospital continues to serve as a central military infrastructure for the Hamas terrorist organization in the southern Gaza Strip. Patients and hospital staff are witnessing the permanent presence of Hamas terrorists, some of them masked, in various areas of the hospital compound. Hamas’ use of the hospital instills fear and endangers patients, healthcare providers, and medical staff. Additional interrogations are currently being conducted in a building that formerly housed hospital offices, was later used as a cafeteria and then converted into a prayer room, and is now being used by Hamas as an interrogation center. The exploitation of civilian infrastructure for interrogations and torture is a widespread phenomenon within the Hamas terrorist organization. These actions by the Hamas terrorist organization constitute a violation of international law, which prohibits the military use of hospitals. The IDF warns Gaza residents: Fearing the loss of its control over the Gaza Strip, the Hamas terrorist organization exploits hospitals, schools, and other civilian facilities for its own purposes, harming residents in the very places meant to serve them.
