Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is the most impressive region in Russia ✨
Yamal translates as "end of the earth" in the language of the indigenous inhabitants of this region - the Nenets. But physically it is located in the northeast European part of the Russian Federation.
Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is the place where two continents Asia and Europe meet. The exact place is claimed to be is at the 97th kilometer from the town of Labytnangi. There you can find a big monument with a sign.
The region is surrounded by the seas of the Arctic Ocean: in the northwest and north - the White and Barents, in the northeast the Kara. That’s why the climate of the region is very tough. Winter there lasts for almost 7 months and the temperature reaches -50 degrees Celsius. The summer is quite nice with sunny days and a comfortable temperature of +25-30 degrees.
In the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, there is a city Salekhard. This is the only city on the planet located at the latitude of the Arctic Circle.
