The house of the book or Singer House is one of the most famous buildings in Saint Petersburg
This fascinating building is placed on Nevsky Prospekt right in the city center. It is well known among citizens and tourists. One of the most popular social networks Vkontakte has a head office in the Singer House. Sometimes local people call it the Vkontakte building.
The other name of this edifice is The house of the book. From 1938 to the present, the most famous bookstore in Saint-Petersburg - “House of Books".
It has six floors and an attic. The architecture style of the house that was built in 1902-1904 is modern which is quite rare for that time.
The building calls for attention and it can’t be easily ignored. An elegant tower crowns the house with a glass globe, the diameter of which reached 2.8 meters.
The secret of one of the most famous buildings in Saint Petersburg is the roof. There is an observation deck with a breathtaking view of Nevsky Prospect.
