Facts and news about U.S. parks.
Current news, travel tips, interesting facts about the national parks of America.
Hot Springs National Park now has a density of 65.4 visitors per acre during its June peak. That's not a typo. Total visitation is up 63.4% since 2019, packing 2.46 million people into just 5,550 acres. The classic Bathhouse Row experience is now functionally inaccessible during peak season, and October is no longer a viable shoulder season. The strategic window is now January-February, when traffic is cut by 50%. Access the 2.7-mile Hot Springs Mountain Trail loop from its designated trailhead on a midweek morning for near-solitude. No permit required.
