The Devaluation Lag: Why Prices Don't Rise Instantly
When the national currency drops sharply, store prices do not skyrocket the next day. There is a time lag of 3–6 months while current inventory is sold off and new batches are purchased at the higher exchange rate.
This creates an illusion of stability: the currency fell, but groceries still cost the same. However, this is just a delayed blow to your budget, which will inevitably occur when retailers update their stock.
Do not relax if the exchange rate fell but prices stayed the same. It is only a matter of time.
