14 TORNADOES- a new update on Arthur’s tornado count brings the total to fourteen. Many have asked, how does this happen? Tropical systems are known to produce tornadoes and in most storms, it’s hard to determine storm wind damage vs. tornadoes. Since Arthur had no apparent wind, any damage seen was most likely from a small twister.

RING OF FIRE PATTERN means we’re living on the edge. Hot and dry weather is anchored over Texas, what borders that is a ring of storms. We are right on that edge, mainly North LA has the storm threats for now. It’ll be interesting later this week if some of these storm complexes come a bit closer.

Concerning trends on radar this evening, a large convective complex is sitting off our coast. There is a circulation with it and that mid level vortex will come right into south-central Louisiana through the night. We’re starting to see the hot spot for flooding rains through the night and it’s between the red lines extending inland. ⚠️⚠️Flooding at night is dangerous! If you must travel late tonight, make sure you are paying attention to flood warnings⚠️⚠️

‼️SE Louisiana and coastal MS friends: There is a significant chance for life-threatening flooding somewhere from the south central LA coast through the I-59 corridor. Rain totals in spots could exceed 10” where there has already been flooding saturating the grounds and leading to rising river levels on the North Shore. The timing of additional flooding would be overnight into very early Thursday morning, but a tail of heavy rain and storms could even continue into the afternoon. There is also a tornado threat as the storms move onshore. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WAYS TO RECEIVE ALERTS OVERNIGHT ‼️ Take shelter in the most interior room in your home in the event of a tornado warning, and evacuate to higher ground if you live in flood prone areas and a flood warning is issued.
