☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ GULF DISTURBANCE⚠️ Regardless of organized tropical development, pay attention early next week for a Gulf Coast heavy rain threat. Fairly robust tropical wave moving into the Southern Gulf Friday. Presently drenching the Yucatan. Fortunately, moderate wind shear and dry air will likely hinder quick development. It's possible that the system organizes into a Tropical Depression before moving into Mexico by Saturday. National Hurricane Center remains unenthused with a low, 10% chance of development. A few AI Ensemble models flirt with the idea of idea of something more organized by early next week, but that solution remains less likely for now. The bigger concern? Tropical moisture likely to uptick rain chances (potentially significantly) along the northwest Gulf Coast by early next week. The combination of a slow moving frontal boundary along with the infusion of deep tropical moisture from the disturbance could spell trouble for heavy rain for someone next week 6/15-6/17. Exact locations and amounts still very hazy, but hot spots of 6+” likely. Watch by Monday-Wednesday next week as a heavy rain risk could return to the forecast. WDSU News

We flip the switch to a drier pattern as the water vapor shows drier air not allowing many pop up showers and storms. Through the week not zero rain chances, but 20-30% coverage wil be much drier than the last several days/

A STORMY GULF - Tropical rain bands are developing over the Gulf of Mexico today. Tropical development is not expected at this time due to strong wind shear. Either way, this disturbance will bring a heavy rain threat, gusty 30-40+ MPH winds, coastal flooding, and rip currents from coastal Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle on Thursday into Friday, with conditions improving on Saturday. First name on the list is Arthur.

THE MESS IN THE GULF - that’s exactly what it is, a mess. Lots of wind shear blowing through will keep this unorganized but the tropical rainbands offshore will be efficient rainfall producers. Maybe as much as 2 feet of rain on the fish. Now as these bands come closer to us Friday into the weekend, we’ll have a heavy rainfall risk. Since the low will remain weak, the heaviest rain likely stays closer to the coast where 2-4”+ is possible. More updates in the coming days as this mess develops off our coast.
