Pavel Durov gave a new interview to the journalist Tucker Carlson. They talked about his arrest in France, Telegram's business model, and Durov's attitude to smartphones.
We have selected the most interesting stories:
– Durov basically does not use a phone. He uses it only once a week to test new Telegram updates, but he has enough laptop for everything else. A smartphone distracts him and harms his privacy. Eight years ago, he was even spied on through the Pegasus Trojan.;
– While Durov was in a French prison, he did 200 push-ups and squats every day to keep fit. He was in solitary confinement, so he couldn't join a gang.;
Telegram earned about $500 million in 2024. The messenger refuses to trade user data and is monetized mainly through a Premium subscription.;
– The French consulate is located in the same building as Telegram's headquarters in Dubai, but no one tried to contact Durov before his trip to Paris.
