🇲🇾 Malaysia Tightens KLIA Security Malaysia’s Cabinet approved 17 measures to strengthen security, screening and risk management at KL International Airport and other international entry points, according to a joint Home Ministry and Transport Ministry plan cleared on Aug 19. Six immediate actions include targeted risk-based screening of higher-risk flights, passengers, crew and baggage, tighter e-vetting and access controls for restricted areas, and expanded drug screening for aviation personnel. The package also provides for a larger visible security presence, including more police at strategic locations and additional General Operations Force personnel at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The government will also strengthen intelligence-sharing through the National Immigration Command Centre, while a joint technical committee will coordinate implementation and resolve cross-agency issues. The 17 measures cover short-, medium- and long-term steps, with broader rollout planned beyond KLIA in phases.
