A man approaches his Rebbe and says, “Your Amidah prayer lasts so much longer than mine; what lofty, mystical meditations are you employing that I need to know? Teach me how to pray like you do!” The Rebbe replies, “My son you’re making a mistake. My meditations are neither lofty nor mystical. I pray simply and normally like anyone else. But when I reach ‘Modim’ (the blessing of thanksgiving) I get stuck. How can I ever express the gratitude I have for G-d and everything He has given me, completely free! I have so much to say and so much to express and no words to use! His love for me is beyond anything I deserve, it leaves me lost for words...So I struggle and stammer and it takes me forever to get past Modim. That’s all. That’s why I take so long.” (Written by Rabbi Eli Friedman, Chabad of Calabasas) #toda #thanksgiving #givethanks #thankful #proudjew #holy #healthy #happy #headheartmiddlefinger #fromsunrisetosunset #jewishmusic #jewish #music #jewishbusiness #goodmorning #filltheworldwithlight #hustle #hustleyosselmoveamuscle #shlichus #lchaim
