🥛 🦠 🌺 #kefir #grain #milk #yogurt #fermentation #food #health Hi Telegram-friends! I'd like to share with you my long-time hobby (>2 years 😋): keeping kefir grains. 🔙 My interest was sparked many years ago when my mom was making yogurt by herself. In Taiwan (2019-ish?) I finally gave it a try and managed to make yogurt from bought yogurt and milk. But the quality would vary a lot and after a few batches it would eventually fail. 🎁 In 2020 my girlfriend got me some kefir grains and a kit (filter and wooden spoon) to make kefir yogurt with as a surprise gift. 👉 Continue reading here

📱 💬 📍 #volla #phone #experience #google-free #maps #notifications #osm #tracker #privacy Hi Telegram-friends! I bought a new phone this year and have been using it for a few months now. It's the Volla Phone 22 - a Google-free Android phone, that focuses on privacy. It took me some time to set it up (while making new discoveries and learning about new apps) and I believe I have everything I need for now; and am quite happy with it. 🪂 What I instantly noticed was that the phone is quite heavy with 215g and the surface of the back cover is very slippery. I already dropped my phone quite a few times. 😩 ▶️ No Google play services: I have underestimated how many apps actually need Google play services to run. Of course you'd expect all Google apps to depend on them and I was prepared to live without them. 💬 However, I didn't expect that the notification system is also part of Google play services. So even though some apps can run normally, but they don't send you notifications if it's not opened and running in the foreground. 😅 Which means I have to regularly open the app to check if I have received new notifications. (Thank god, that there's a Telegram fork, that has removed the google-dependency) 🗺 Obviously, apps that require google maps such as city bike and car rental apps also don't work on my phone. (Youbike's website has up-to-date bike station info that I can use.) For navigation I have to use openstreetmap now and have also started contributing to map edits myself to help keep the map data up-to-date. 📍 Somehow the GPS signal is also very hard to get with the Volla Phone 22. Even after enabling discovery over Wifi and Bluetooth it took me once 30min or more to get the GPS signal. 😅 Eventually, I found that by using a GPS tracker app and enabling tracking helps me get a GPS signal faster (~5min). 🕵️♂️ In terms of privacy I am really sure that no google services are running on my phone. 😜 2️⃣ Apps can also not run in the background (without being in my notifications). 3️⃣ If apps haven't been used for some time all of their permissions will be stripped from them. 4️⃣ It's also very nice to know that when you turn things off (wifi, mobile data, bluetooth, location) they are really off. 🔍 A privacy app, that I discovered through the Volla community is Tracker control. It's an easy way to monitor and disable trackers for all apps installed on your phone. I would recommend this app if you want to see and block trackers for any app. However, be warned that it can also cause apps/websites from working. 💫 That's it for my brief Google-free phone experience report. 🙏 Thanks for reading and feel free to leave a comment if you want to know more about the phone or my experience with the phone. ❔ Would you get a Google-free Android phone? 🤳 Ссылка скрыта

🇹🇼 💬 🛡 #taiwan #dw #documentary #diverse #people #opinions #threat #china Hi Telegram-friends! DW just released a short documentary (42min) about Taiwan and (more importantly) about the diverese people and their opinions regarding China. Despite living in Taiwan, there were some surprising information for me. Definitely worth watching to see how life in Taiwan is and to get a local perspective on the Taiwan Strait conflict. ▶️ Ссылка скрыта 🕊 Ссылка скрыта

🛵 🏕 ⏯ #scooter #camping #trip #video #august22 #taiwan Hi Telegram friends! Just like last year, I'd like to share a video of us heading towards central Taiwan for a camping trip. With a better camera, replaced scooter tires and front break this trip was very smooth. 😃 Also I'm learning more about video encoding/editing to provide you videos in different qualities. 🤓 Check out our 4minutes trip compilation in SD and HD. 😃 👉 480p (66MB) | 720p (115MB) Enjoy! 📹 Ссылка скрыта

🏕 🐑 🚠 #austria #family #trip #tierpark #haag #canyoning #wien #wallersee #camping Hi Telegram-friends, Hier are some photos of my trip home in July. 😊 🛫 Travel 🛴 Wien - Innere Stadt, Neue Donau 🐴 Tierpark Stadt Haag / Zoo 🔥 Camping at Wallersee 🥘 Wien - Food, Hike, Friedenspagode 👷♂️ Canyoning Unfortunately, the time went by too fast and it was quite stressful to run all the somewhat unclear errands for my Taiwanese visa. 😅 Enjoy the pics! 📷 Ссылка скрыта

🇨🇳 🌎 ▶️ #china #xi #xijinping #goals #dw #world #documentary #xinjiang #africa #australia #taiwan #hongkong #europe #silkroad #SCO #PRC Hi Telegram friends, DW released an interesting and in depth documentary about Chinas current leader Xijinping and his plans for 2049. Bit scary to think that he is progessing on many fronts and democracies are just about to wake up to his endeavor. Hopefully by raising awareness to Xi's overwhelming complex plans will help people understand that you can't trust and deal with China like other countries. The video is a bit long, but I definitely learned some things from it: Ссылка скрыта (1hr 25m) Enjoy (as much as one can 😅) and feel free to discuss and share your opinion with me. ☀️ Ссылка скрыта

📧 👤 🥷 #simplelogin #email #alias #service #receive #send #anonymously Hi Telegram-friends! I recently found a neat email alias service. (Ссылка скрыта You can generate up to 15 email aliases, that are forwarded to your actual email. The service can also show your set alias as the sender email when you reply to emails in your real mailbox. It's quite helpful if you don't want to reveal your real email (for subscriptions) or want to have multiple aliases in a single mailbox. In the free version, a random number or word will be added to your alias. I'd suggest to just reload the page until there's an acceptable random word that you like for you alias. 😅 Let me know what you think or are there any other privacy services you'd recommend? 📬 Ссылка скрыта
