The first #CivilSocietyDigest of autumn is here! We’ve collected a fresh selection of opportunities for you. ➨ Deadline soon! Numun Fund has opened applications for Seed, Grow & Sustain 3.0, a flexible, multi-year grant programme for initiatives and organisations advancing feminist tech activism. The fund prioritises organising in the Larger Majority World, including Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as Indigenous and migrant communities worldwide. Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000 over two years, depending on the stage of the initiative’s development. Apply by 6 September 2026. ➨ The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is looking for a full-time Program Coordinator for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The role leads CPJ’s research, advocacy and regional coordination on press freedom issues, with a particular focus on Russia and Eastern Europe. Applicants should have at least 7 years of relevant experience in media or press freedom advocacy, fluency in English and Russian and strong regional expertise. The position is remote. Apply by 10 September. ➨ The French PAUSE programme supports scholars and researchers in exile or at risk because of their political or religious beliefs, nationality, sexual orientation, or their research and teaching activities. Funding ranges from €40,000 to €60,000 per year depending on the researcher’s status, and support is provided for 6–12 months, with the possibility of renewal. Important: the application must be submitted by the host institution in France, not by the candidate. Deadline: 24 September 2026. Apply here. ➨ Justice & Peace Netherlands is looking for a Programme Intern to support its Human Rights Defenders & Security programme and the global Shelter City network in The Hague. The intern will help coordinate programme activities, support visiting human rights defenders, organise advocacy meetings, trainings and events, assist with communications and logistics, and contribute to monitoring and programme development. Apply by 6 September 2026. ➨ The European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) is inviting paper proposals for the international conference “Actors, Witnesses or Subjects? Children in Post-war Central and Eastern Europe, 1945–1989”, taking place in Warsaw on 19–20 November 2026. The conference will explore post-war Central and Eastern Europe through children’s experiences and perspectives, including their role as historical actors responding to political and social change. Selected papers may be considered for publication, and organisers will contribute to travel and accommodation costs for accepted participants. Apply by 18 September 2026.
