🎺 BLOW YOUR OWN TRUMPET 🎺
Have you ever wanted to tell everyone how amazing you are… but felt a little embarrassed to say it? 😏
The British have a funny expression for it:
🎺 to blow your own trumpet
It means to boast or talk proudly about your own achievements.
Why a trumpet? 📯
Imagine someone standing in the middle of a crowd, playing a trumpet loudly to make sure everyone notices them. That’s the idea behind the expression!
💬 Example:
“I don’t mean to blow my own trumpet, but I made the best cake today!” 🎂😄
So, if someone is constantly telling everyone how talented, successful, or clever they are, you can say:
👉 He really likes to blow his own trumpet!
Another colourful British idiom to add to your vocabulary!
