France’s famous cheese industry is feeling the heat as drought and extreme temperatures squeeze farms across the country. Water restrictions now affect nearly 70% of French territory, while dried-out pastures are reducing milk production and raising concerns about the quality of dairy products, particularly cheese. Agriculture is among the sectors hit hardest as another heatwave adds pressure to already severe drought conditions. For a country where cheese is almost a national language, a summer without enough rain could leave a surprisingly noticeable mark on the table.
