A remarkable archaeological discovery is rewriting part of Ireland's prehistoric story. Researchers in County Galway have uncovered two different 6,000-year-old megalithic tombs standing side by side-the only known site of its kind in Ireland-offering rare insight into how the island's earliest farming communities buried their dead and carried out rituals. Excavations also revealed an amethyst pendant unlike anything previously found at a similar Irish site, along with stone tools, pottery and cremated human remains. Sometimes history's greatest discoveries aren't hidden underground-they're waiting just a few metres from where we were already looking.
