A pay rise could be on the way for Ireland’s lowest-paid workers. The Low Pay Commission is expected to recommend a 5.6% increase in the national minimum wage, lifting it from €14.15 to €14.94 an hour if the government signs off on the proposal. Any change would be announced with the national budget and take effect from January 1, 2027, continuing a run of annual minimum wage increases. It’s not a done deal yet, but the government has usually followed the commission’s advice, making this recommendation more than just a number on paper.
