Grand reopening of the Khudozhestvenny cinema on April 9th 2021 🎞 On April 9, the Khudozhestvenny cinema opened after a five-year restoration. Khudozhestvenny is the oldest cinema in Russia, a two-floor building with an eclectic basement was opened to visitors in 1909. The last reconstruction of the cinema began in 2014. A new architectural concept was developed by the German bureau Merz Merz. The modern style with exquisite details creates a bohemian atmosphere inside. A staircase in the main lobby leads to an additional floor, which has never been in that place. During the restoration work, the laid-up window openings were revealed and the historical decor was restored. A restaurant with an author's menu and a bar is located in the open space of the main lobby in the cinema and that reminds about old cinema times. 📍Arbatskaya pl., 14
