English level: B2 and higher ⛩Hourly rate: 25 euro Project engagement: 6-12 months 📰 We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer to join our team and take a leading role in modernizing and scaling our platform. The system is built on a modular microservices architecture (Python 3.11, FastAPI, Flask, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL) and deployed via Docker and Kubernetes on AWS. Our NLP stack leverages LangChain and Weaviate to power advanced RAG pipelines. This role will drive major initiatives, including a database overhaul, backend refactoring, NLP/RAG optimization, and production hardening of the system. 💻 Key Responsibilities - Refactor and optimize PostgreSQL schema for scalability and performance. - Resolve incomplete Salesforce data migration and ensure data model consistency. - Address outdated dependencies and versioning issues. - Redesign LangChain-based pipelines to improve efficiency, parallelize processing, and reduce LLM call costs. - Optimize retrieval and search using Weaviate. - Integrate external knowledge sources into RAG pipelines for richer model context. - Enhance modularity and maintainability of the NLP codebase (Poetry, pre-commit, Ruff). - Rebuild monolithic components into modular microservices. - Align backend services with updated database and NLP architecture. - Remove deprecated code, improve documentation, and raise overall code quality. - Expand test coverage for NLP and end-to-end workflows. - Establish structured testing practices and CI/CD pipelines. - Improve system security, observability, and performance for production readiness. ⚙️ Required Skills & Experience - 5+ years of experience with Python, FastAPI, Flask, and SQLAlchemy. - Strong background in microservices and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes). - Familiarity with Terraform and CI/CD practices. - Deep experience with PostgreSQL schema design, optimization, and migrations. - Ability to modernize legacy schemas and ensure high data integrity. - Hands-on expertise with LangChain and vector databases (Weaviate). - Solid understanding of embeddings, LLM orchestration, and cost/performance balancing. - AWS experience (Secrets Manager, CloudFront). - Knowledge of queues (SQS, RabbitMQ), caching, and CDN strategies. - Ability to implement monitoring and error tracking (current system uses Slack). - Secure coding and vulnerability management expertise. - Proven track record in improving documentation, code quality, and test coverage across multiple repositories. 🎤 Soft Skills - Proactive, independent problem-solver. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote, fast-paced setup. ➕ Nice to Have - Experience with pre-commit hooks, Ruff, and Poetry for Python projects. - Background in re-architecting systems for high-scale usage. 👋 Apply with CV: @yanaapon
