Germany is home to the artificial lake Geiseltalsee, a former coal quarry that was flooded with water
Now this body of water resembles an underwater forest. At a depth of 80 metres, trees, old roads and concrete structures lie hidden there.
And no, this isn’t a hoax – the video was filmed there by Swedish photographer Alex Dawson: the slender tree branches have been so well preserved underwater thanks to the unique conditions. At such great depths, it is very cold and there is almost no oxygen, but there are plenty of minerals left over from the mine.
