"Intensity does not come from the hands. The hands react to the intensity the music calls for." - Pepe Romero

He passed 50, then 60, then 70 and moved into his 80's still practicing five hours a day. When asked why he continued to work so hard at his age, he replied: “Because I will have an eternity to rest.” Segovia gave 5,402 concerts, appearing on stage every year from 1909 to 1987. He toured 60 countries and 723 cities. He produced about 50 long-playing records, most available today in CD format. Segovia participated in hundreds of broadcasts and television appearances, and in the 1950s began giving master classes.

Открыть канал и посмотреть медиаCarlo Domeniconi - Variations on an Anatolian folk song This work is a charming and melodic work based on a folk song from Anatolia, the large peninsula between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean that constitutes the Asian part of Turkey. He learned it from Asik Veysel, a popular blind Turkish folk singer. Domeniconi considers the song a fine representative of a strain in contemporary Turkish folk music analogous to the blues. The name of the song is "Uzun ince bir yoldayim" (I am traveling down a long narrow path). The work is in the established form of Western variation music, with the theme stated and then given various treatments by the guitar. Intriguingly, the theme itself is not particularly exotic. It has a few scale inflections that the average Western listener would associate with "Eastern" music. But part of this impression is due to the fact that Domeniconi presents the tune in a form we might call "as written," that is, without ornamentations and inflections that would probably be added in a singer's interpretation. Then Domeniconi goes on to introduce such ornamentations, meanwhile also adding, in some variations, dance rhythms. In the end it is a work that charms the audience while demonstrating aspects of similarity and dissimilarity between the Western and Turkish musical cultures. Ссылка скрыта

Открыть канал и посмотреть медиаThe history of classical guitar has numerous composers and performers, but did you know that world-famous violinist and composer Niccolo Paganini was also a guitar virtuoso? He wrote: ‘I love the guitar for its harmony; it is my constant companion in all my travels’ One of the fascinating things about Paganini is the interaction between his violin technique and his guitar technique. He frequently played both instruments during his musical sessions with friends, even (as an eyewitness has recorded) putting the violin between his knees so that he could pick up the guitar and continue playing without interrupting the flow. The Grand Sonata originally included a violin part of extreme simplicity, because it was the custom for Paganini to exchange his violin for the guitar of Luigi Legnani at the end of one of their joint recitals. Legnani’s violin playing did not approach the level of Paganini’s guitar playing, however, and the part had to be written accordingly. Its meagre proportions often lead guitarists to dispense with it altogether, apart from incorporating a few of the violin’s notes where appropriate. Ссылка скрыта
