“Part 2. Meeting foreign workers
Before I started building my house, I had no idea who foreign workers were. They seemed gloomy and suspicious to me. That changed when I met my first workers.
They lived nearby, just a few kilometers from my house, in a house without a roof. It was already late autumn, and it was starting to snow.
What surprised me most was that every day, when I arrived at the construction site, they would cheerfully greet me by saying:
— Great! It’s getting warmer.
At first, I didn’t understand the joke. Then I realized: during the day, the sun really did make the air warmer compared to the freezing nights in a house without a roof.
Later, I offered them a place to stay in my unfinished house. It wasn’t ready yet, but it already had electricity, running water, and heating.
That’s how a long-standing friendship with these honest and hardworking people began. Over time, they came to trust me.”
