Powering the Big Games Industry Employment Survey 2026 with Mellow
We’re proud to have Mellow as the main partner of the Big Games Industry Employment Survey 2026.
One month in — and we’re already approaching 1,000 responses from professionals across the global games industry.
This year, we’re paying special attention to how work in games is changing: distributed teams, freelance models, and the growing role of contractors across production.
Mellow is one of the companies building infrastructure for this shift — helping studios work with global talent at scale and navigate the operational complexity behind it.
As Aleksandr Noroviatkin, Head of Growth & Brand at Mellow, puts it:
“The gaming industry runs on distributed teams, yet most studios still lack the infrastructure to manage them properly — especially when it comes to IP transfer, misclassification risks, scaling contractors at production speed. These are billion-dollar problems hiding in spreadsheets and handshake agreements.
Every major layoff only accelerates the shift toward contract work. That’s why we’re building the infrastructure to power contractor operations for game studios worldwide.”
We’re grateful to Mellow for supporting this research and helping us better understand where the industry is heading.
👉 If you work in games, we’d love to hear your perspective.
