Top grades are becoming slightly more common in Northern Ireland, giving thousands of students an extra reason to celebrate results day. More than 26,000 students received A-level, AS-level and BTEC results, with 30.7% of A-level entries earning an A or above, up from 30.3% last year, while the share of A grades edged up to 8.8%. STEM subjects still account for more than a third of A-level entries, and mathematics remains the most popular subject, representing roughly one in ten. The increases may be small, but on results day, a fraction of a percentage point can change someone’s next chapter entirely.
