Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions are moving in the right direction-but not nearly fast enough. New figures from the Environmental Protection Agency show emissions fell 2.2% in 2025, marking a fourth straight annual decline, yet officials warn the country must cut pollution about four and a half times faster to meet its legally binding 2030 climate targets. Cleaner electricity, more renewable energy, electric vehicles, and improved energy efficiency all helped drive the latest reductions, but the EPA says even every planned policy may still fall well short of what's needed. It's encouraging progress, though the climate clock is ticking much faster than the current pace of change.
