After the Hunt by Luca Guadagnino
Such a beautiful yet utterly sad film about the poor state of U.S. academia — extremely liberal, often not by choice, and full of over-sensitized young people who want to bend reality to fit their perceptions of good and bad, right and wrong, and everything in between.
A stellar musical score, and a superb performance by Julia Roberts (I never really liked her before), with Michael Stuhlbarg not an inch less brilliant. Overall, though, in the context of today’s realities, I’m very, very sad.
But it’s so unique now that a Hollywood director allows himself to be morally ambiguous and not totally preaching.
