Backrooms by Kane Parsons Simply brilliant. All the rest of the words I can add here would be totally unnecessary.

Kurz und schmerzlos by Fatih Akin Short Sharp Shock, Fatih Akin’s debut feature, is a bit low on the intensity so common in his later work. Compared to Head-On, The Edge of Heaven, and In the Fade, this multi-culti crime drama is almost adolescent, childish, and rather one-dimensional.

Group Marriage by Stephanie Rothman A feminist exploitation comedy from the early 1970s, you go figure. Fun to watch, eh - need to check more Rothman movies.

La Bête by Walerian Borowczyk A strange yet nonetheless cult arthouse tale of Beauty and the Beast from 1975 — or rather, of beauty and bestiality. Still banned in many places, though by modern AI standards the werewolf pornographic content and copulating horses are not as shocking compared to what a lot of Japanese anime often offers. 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days by Cristian Mungiu Rewatched this after Mungiu’s second Palme d’Or triumph. Remains a total classic, 20 years changed it none. Sickening and brutal.

Scream 7 by Kevin Williamson While all critics called it shit and all audiences loved it, Scream 7 has two redeeming qualities. First, Kevin Williamson in the lead is the biggest-ever true franchise comeback. He is the second face of the original Scream from the 90s; he and Wes Craven are like Billy Loomis and Stu Macher, two in one. Second, Neve Campbell, already in her 50s, proved to be a true last girl, definitely the reigning U.S. horror queen — nothing Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega can do about that. And three — how could I forget? It’s kinda fun. Yeah.
