Garden "Saint-Germain" in Saint-Petersburg 🌿
Garden "Saint-Germain" on Liteiny Prospect, located in one of the backyards of residential buildings. The garden has been preserved in its original form.
The idea of the garden is that it hides from passers-by in a cozy backyard. The garden is surrounded by three buildings, so finding it is not easy. Despite the fact that the name of the garden has changed from time to time, its name has always been of French origin.
In the backyard, you can see Renaissance architecture and Latin inscriptions. Also, the garden is decorated with a stylistic fence that resembles the one of a summer garden.
In the 60-70s of the Soviet era, this place was especially popular among the creative bohemians. There was a cafe "Saigon", whose regular visitors were Anna Akhmatova, Iosif Brodsky, Boris Grebenshchikov and Sergey Dovlatov.
Now the garden is abandoned. However, in the summer of 2019, a famous fountain started working in the garden. It was restored.
