The BFI Network England Short Film Fund has launched, offering £5,000–£25,000 to support the production of bold, original short films by UK-based filmmakers.
This fund is designed to back emerging talent, particularly voices that are underrepresented on screen and behind the camera, and to help filmmakers take a clear step forward in their creative careers.
🔹 Key details:
• Funding range: £5,000–£25,000
• For fiction, documentary, and animation shorts
• Open to filmmakers based in England
• Focus on distinctive voice, craft, and progression
The BFI Network remains one of the most important gateways into the UK film ecosystem often acting as a launchpad for future feature development, labs, and long-term industry relationships.
At Filmshake , we highlight funds like this because early, well-structured support is critical in building sustainable careers — not just films.
If you’re developing a short that clearly shows who you are as a filmmaker and where you’re heading next, this is a call worth serious attention.
