Watch for localized street flooding tomorrow. The WPC has placed a Slight Risk(Level 2 out of 4) for flash flooding. While I'm not expecting widespread flood issues, hot spots of 1-3 inches of rain possible. Rainfall rates could be intense, so watch for quick nuisance street flooding with thunderstorms tomorrow!

Heat dome still over us on the eastern edge brining higher than average heat. Highs stay in the 94-96°. High humidity makes it feel like the 106-112°. The only relief is a spotty shower or storm. I don't see many changes over the next 5-7 days.

Invest 92L has been designated for the wave halfway between Africa and the Caribbean. Our first spaghetti models show the track forecast is pretty simple, west to west-northwest towards the Caribbean. A brutal stretch of heat may be on the way over the next 5-10 days. Indications are a heat ridge will park itself right on top of Louisiana. This will yield daily temperatures soaring into the upper 90’s to 100°+. Heat index values will likely exceed 110° each day meaning heat alerts are likely. Considering the pattern being displayed, the middle to end of August may be our hottest stretch of summer this year. 🥵🥵🥵

FLASH DROUGHT RISK GROWING ☀🔥 If you're a gardener like me, expect your water bill to increase over the next few weeks! Hazardous heat is expected to expand across the Deep South over the next two weeks. The Climate Prediction Center has placed parts of the South, including portions of southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi, under a Rapid Onset Drought (ROD) risk. Extreme heat accelerates evapotranspiration, pulling moisture from plants and soil. With rainfall potentially running more than 2 inches below normal, soils will dry out quickly and drought development possible. Expect increasing stress on lawns, crops and vegetation, along with a potentially higher fire risk. Additional burn bans could be possible. Stay tuned...
