A huge wildfire has already swept across more than 1,500 hectares of southwestern France, leaving homes under threat as crews race to contain it. Firefighters and local farmers worked through the night around Luglon in the Landes region, tackling persistent hotspots and trying to stop the flames from spreading further. With the fire still not fully under control, attention is now turning to the weather, as forecast rain could give exhausted crews the help they badly need. Sometimes the most welcome reinforcement arrives from the sky.
